Q. What is a domain name?
A.  A domain name is essentially a Web site address. People will use this name to find your Web site.  No two parties can ever hold the same Web address simultaneously, so your Internet identity is totally unique. Technically, a Web Address is an addressing construct used for identifying and locating computers on the Internet. While computers use Internet Protocol (IP) numbers to locate each other on the Internet, people find them hard to remember.  Therefore, Web addresses were developed to permit the use of easily remembered words and phrases to identify Internet addresses.  When you type www.TeamSportsOnline.com into a Web browser or send e-mail to someone at TeamSportsOnline.com, the Domain Name System (DNS) translates TeamSportsOnline.com into the IP numbers used by the Internet and connects you to TeamSportsOnline.

Q. What is a URL?
A.  Short for "Uniform Resource Locator," this is the actual address for Web sites, documents and other resources on the World Wide Web. An example of a URL is http://www.echurchonline.com/.

Q. How much will my hosting provider charge me
to transfer my Web address (domain name) to
use with my new Web site?
A.  Most hosting providers do not charge to transfer a Web address. Please note that TeamSportsOnline does not charge for this transfer at all. Any transfer charges that you may incur would come directly from your current hosting provider.

Q. Is my Web site accessible from all browsers,
     even older versions?

A. Some portions of your Web site may not be accessible from older browsers. This is due to new technology used in site design and new security standards. You can download an updated browser from either, http://www.microsoft.com or www.netscape.com*. When using Netscape Communicator, we recommend that you use Version 4.77 not 6.0. You may use any version of Internet Explorer.

Technological Specifications:

 Hosting
All of our live servers are hosted at isdn.net hosting facilities in Nashville, TN. isdn.net Internet Data Centers (IDCs) provide the physical environment necessary to keep our servers up and running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The facilities are custom designed with raised floors, HVAC temperature control systems with separate cooling zones, and seismically braced racks. They offer the widest range of physical security features, including state-of-the-art smoke detection and fire suppression systems, motion sensors, and 24x7 secured access, as well as video camera surveillance and security breach alarms.
Within these facilities, we are able to deliver the highest levels of reliability through a number of redundant subsystems, such as multiple fiber trunks coming into the IDC from multiple sources, fully redundant power on the premises, and multiple backup generators.
Server Capacity
Our server base consists of two (2) servers each contains the following: QUAD (4) INTEL 550MHz Xeon processors, 2 gigs EDO Server RAM, 4 Seagate 18 gig Cheetah SCSI Hard Drives, AMI Megaraid Enterprise 1500 RAID V card, Onstream 30 gig SCSI tape backup and tri hot-swap-pable power supplies. These servers are tested to have a load demand of up to 40,000
simultaneous users and still stay under 20% CPU capacity. The database server has a capacity of approximately 5,000 websites and the application server has the capacity of 1000 websites to run at a reasonable speed capacity. We plan to add more capacity as needed.
Security
We are running a WatchGuard Firebox II 2500 linux based firewall solution. This allows for managed security to thwart Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and potential hackers from reaching the servers behind
the firewall.

ISPs generally provide a variety of services such as email, personalized start pages, and Web site hosting.

A.  Short for Internet or Web browser, it is a software application that allows you to locate and display Web pages. The most popular browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.

Q. How long can I stay online?
A.  With Safe-Online Internet access you get unlimited usage of the Web.

Q. What kind of access speeds can I expect?
A.  There are a number of factors that affect the actual speed with which you connect to the Web. You should check the specifications of your modem to get the speed supported.

Due to the quality of the phone lines in your home and/or in your area, and the amount of traffic on the Web, you may not achieve the top speeds specified by your modem manufacturer.
